Rapid urbanization in developing countries means governments and businesses cannot produce enough jobs to meet the demand of these fast-growing populations. As a result, unemployment rates rise, creating urban slums that are now populated by approximately one billion people in the world.

Although fewer people live in extreme poverty now, others still struggle to meet basic needs. Living on less than $3.20 per day reflects poverty lines in lower-middle income countries.  Competition for survival is fierce and it’s hard to make a daily living.

Poverty is a cycle that is passed down to younger generations. It’s not easy for them to break this seemingly never-ending cycle without educational opportunities.
